Henry, Pierre

Popular French composer Pierre Henry was born on December 9, 1927, in Paris, France. He was among the pivotal forces behind the development of musique concrète, becoming the first formally educated musician to devote his energies to the electronic medium. He is also considered a pioneer of the musique concrète genre of electronic music. Between 1949 and 1958, he wrote the 1950 piece Symphonie pour un homme seul, in cooperation with Schaeffer.
