Estelle Fanta Swaray known better as Estelle and formerly as Est’elle is a Senegalese-British R&B singer-songwriter born on January 18 1980 in Hammersmith, West London, England. She released her debut album the 18th day in 2004 and broke up the charts with song “1980” which peaked at 14 on the UK singles charts. The real breakthrough to the mainstream success happened when she released her second and last album to date title “Shine”. The album yielded the hit single “American Boy” (featuring Kanye West). The song topped the charts in such countries like UK, Belgium, Israel and generally in Europe. In the U.S. the song reached number 9.
