Enslaved

Progressive metal, Viking metal and black metal band Enslaved from Haugesund, Norway, was founded in 1991. The band's current line-up comprises Grutle Kjellson (lead vocals, bass), Ivar Bjørnson (lead guitar), Arve "Ice Dale" Isdal (rhythm guitar), Cato Bekkevold (drums) and Herbrand Larsen (keyboards, backing vocals). Originally, this group was created by two friends Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson, when they were thirteen and seventeen years old respectively. They emerged on the black metal scene in the early 1990s with their debut EP entitled Hordanes Land, which was a combination of various musical styles such as experimental rock, hard rock and progressive metal. They achieved mainstream success in 1994 with their breakthrough album, Frost, which yielded several singles "Yggdrasil", "Gylfaginning" and "Wotan".
