Eels are an American alternative rock band coming from California, the United States. The band was founded by Mark Oliver Everett, better known under his stage moniker E. He is the core of the band while other musicians are sort of “come and go” both for studio and performance work. Everett began his career as a solo musician and the band’s name was chosen in order to be associated with his previous works, which were released under “E” moniker. During their career, the band has released 12 studio albums, 5 live albums, 3 compilation albums, one extended play and 13 singles. The band is currently signed to Vargant Records. The last band’s album End Times was released in 2010. It received positive reviews from Allmusic, The Guardian, The Independent, The Sunday Times and from other media.
