American progressive metal band Dream Theater from Long Island, NY, was formed in 1985 under the name Majesty by John Myung, John Petrucci, and Mike Portnoy and currently comprises James LaBrie, John Myung, John Petrucci, Mike Portnoy and Jordan Rudess. The group is well known for the technical proficiency of its instrumentalists, who have won many awards from music instruction magazines. The band members have collaborated with many other notable musicians such as Eric Johnson, Robert Fripp and others. The band achieved mainstream success with their album, Images and Words (1992), which produced three hit singles such as "Another Day", "Pull Me Under" and "Take The Time".
