Donny Hathaway

Donny Edward Hathaway, better known under his stage name Donny Hathaway was an American soul singer, songwriter, conductor, record producer, arranger and instrumentalist born on October 1, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois and died on January 13, 1979 in New York City, New York, the United States. He collaborated with many musicians and one such collaboration earned him Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for "Where Is the Love" with Roberta Flack. Rolling Stone magazine called him “a major new force in soul music”. However, he was diagnosed paranoid schizophrenia, which caused several hospitalizations.
