American pop, dance, disco R&B, rock and new wave singer and songwriter Donna Summer (birth name LaDonna Adrian Gaines) was born on December 31, 1948, Boston, Massachusetts, United States. As a child, she sang in church. When she was a teenager, she decided to join the psychedelic rock band called The Crow. At the age of eighteen, she got a role in the Broadway musical, Hair. It was her initial success. Later, she moved to Munich and performed along with Viennese Folk Opera and the pop group called Munich Machine. She came to prominence in the late 1970s with her breakthrough album, Four Seasons of Love, which has been certified platinum in the US.
