Django Reinhardt

Django Reinhardt, birth name Jean Reinhardt was a Gypsy jazz guitarist born on 23 January 1910Liberchies, Belgium and died on 16 May 1953 in Fontainebleau, France. He is one of the most renowned jazz guitarists and one of the leading European jazz guitarists. His moniker “Django” means “I awake” in Romani. He was interested in music since his childhood and learnt to play banjo, guitar and violin, but later he switched to guitar only. He overcame serious injures he got during the fire. One of his legs was to be amputated and some of his fingers were paralyzed. Most people thought he would never play guitar again. However, after the rehabilitation, he continued playing guitar and managed to plays all the solos with only two fingers. He also survived during the WWII.
