Dissection

Swedish black and death metal band Dissection from Strömstad, Sweden, was formed in 1989. The band comprised Jon Nödtveidt (vocals, lead guitar), Set Teitan (rhythm guitar) and Tomas Asklund (drums). In 1990, the band played their first live show with death metal act Entombed. In the same year, they also recorded and released a demo entitled, The Grief Prophecy. It contained three songs and featured illustrations by the artist known as Necrolord, who later created most the band's album artworks. In 1993, they released their debut album, The Somberlain, which was primarily a melodic black metal album, though it also contained death metal influences, making it one of the earliest blackened death metal albums released. The band played its final European concert in Stockholm on Midsummer, 24 June 2006.
