Devo

Devo, often referred as DEVO or DEV-O, is an American New Wave band coming from Akron, Ohio, the United States. The band was formed in 1972 and the original lineup included Gerald Casale, Bob Lewis, Mark Mothersbaugh, Bob Casale, Rod Reisman and Fred Weber. The band’s name comes from idea of de-evolution created by art students Bob Lewis and Gerald Casale. De-evolution means “the idea that instead of evolving, mankind has actually regressed, as evidenced by the dysfunction and herd mentality of American society.” During its career the band has released eight studio albums. The best-selling album is their 1980 release titled Freedom of Choice. It yielded their most popular song to date “Whip It”. The album itself went on Platinum in the U.S. and Gold in Canada.
