The Cure are an English rock band formed in Crawley, England in 1976. The current band’s line-up composes of Robert Smith (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Porl Thompson (guitar, keyboards), Simon Gallup (bass guitar, keyboards), Jason Cooper (drums, percussion). Robert Smith is the only founding member remaining in the band; he is band’s leader and the principal songwriter. The band’s music is often labeled as gothic rock or alternative rock but Smith denied that classification saying that Cure is impossible to classify. During its career, the band has released 13 studio albums, 4 live albums, 10 compilation albums and 39 singles. The band’s most commercially successful album is Disintergrations which has become 2 x Platinum in the United States.
