Corinne Bailey Rae

Corinne Bailey Rae, birth name Corinne Jacqueline Bailey is an English soul, R&B, jazz and blues singer-songwriter born on February 26, 1979 in Leeds, England, the UK. Rae’s mother is white English and her father is black Kittitian. She began her music career at school, studying classical violin. Later when she was in Baptist church, she was recruited in a rock band which covered songs by different band and wrote their own worship lyrics. Later, she listened to Lenny Kravitz, Led Zeppelin, and Jimi Hendrix. She also was a part of the all-female teenage indie band called Helen. The band reached the local popularity and was even signed to Roadrunner Records. She has pursued a successful solo career as well. Her debut self-titled album was released in 2010.
