Arcangelo Corelli was an Italian violinist and composer of Baroque music, born on February 17, 1653 in Fusignano and died on January 8, 1713 in Rome. He is considered to be a creator of the artistic violin play. He was learning how to play violin under the guidance of Giovanni Battista Bassani. Matteo Simonelli taught him composition. Corelli achieved his first success in Paris at the age of 19. Later he went to Germany where he served to the prince of Bavaria. After that he moved to Rome. He reached the fame and he was well received by many aristocrats including Cardinal Pietro Ottoboni and Queen Christina of Sweden. He is considered to be the greatest violinist of the 18th century. He influenced such great composers like Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Benda, and many others. He composed 48 trio sonatas, 12 concerti grossi and many other works.
