Chumbawamba are a British music band formed in Burnley, England in 1982. The current line-up composes of Boff Whalley - vocals, guitar, ukelele and clarinet, Lou Watts - vocals, guitar, percussion and keyboards, Jude Abbott - vocals, recorder and trumpet, Neil Ferguson - vocals, guitar and bass and Phil Moody - accordion and vocals. The band began as an anarcho-punk outfit but they turned towards pop oriented music, world music and folk acoustic sound. Their lyrics touch such questions like war, racism, fascism, pop culture, working class rights and other anarchist influenced topics. The band was unknown for many years. They achieved their break in 1997 after signing a deal with EMI records. The album Tubthumper broke up the main charts and reached number 3 on the Billboard 200 and number 19 on the UK Albums chart.
