Christopher Anton Rea, better known as Chris Rea is an English blues and rock singer-songwriter born on March 4, 1951 in Middlesbrough, England. He began his music career in 1978 releasing the debut album Whatever Happened to Benny Santini? and focusing on the American market. The debut work did OK and reached Gold status and number 49 on the Billboard 200. After that, he decided to focus on Europe and his next album Deltics was released next year charting in the UK (#54). The peak of Rea’s career happened in the second half of the 1980s and at the beginning of 1990s when he released five consecutive Platinum albums including one 6 x Platinum album and one 2 x Platinum. The best selling album Road to Hell became his first UK number one album. The most popular songs featuring the album are Road to Hell (part one and part two) and Daytona.
