Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco, better known under her stage name Charice or Charice Pempengco, is a Filipino international singer born on May 10, 1992 in Laguna, Philippines. In order to help her family (her mother raise her and her brother Carl alone) she started competing in the amateur contests at the age of 7. During her life, she participated in more than 80 contests. She gained the worldwide recognition posting her live performance on YouTube. Millions of people watched them and Charice has become an internet phenomenon. Later, she was noticed in the United States and her popularity spread in South Korea. She performed for the Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and sang duets with famous tenor Andrea Bocelli and Canadian superstar Celine Dion.
