Carole King, birth name Carole Klein is an American singer-songwriter born on February 9, 1942 in New York City, New York. She performs in such genres like folk rock, jazz and pop. She and her husband Gerry Goffin has created many hit singles during the 1960s. Some of them have become standards. King was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. During her recording history, she has released more than 15 studio albums, 3 live albums, 5 compilation albums, and even 1 soundtrack album. As a singer, she is known best of all for her Diamond album Tapestry, released in 1971. The album was certified Diamond in the United States, and was number 4 in the UK.
