Carman

Grammy-nominated, contemporary Christian music artist Carman (birth name Carmen Dominic Licciardello) was born on January 19, 1956, in Trenton, New Jersey. As a boy, he played the drums and the guitar, and he began singing at 16. He attended Military School for two years. As his career developed, Carman played New Jersey and Philadelphia clubs before going on to Las Vegas. According to Carman, it was after seeing an Andrae Crouch concert that he joined the Christian faith. He released his debut LP, Some-O-Dat, in 1982, and began a string of CCM chart successes with his song "Sunday's On The Way" from the live album of the same name in 1983. In 1990, Billboard Magazine recognized his influence in Christian music by naming him the first "Contemporary Christian Artist of the Year".
