American rock, alternative rock and roots music singer-songwriter and guitarist Black Francis (birth name Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV) was born on April 6, 1965, in Boston, Massachusetts. He came to prominence as a member of the alternative rock group called Pixies. During their career, they released a numerous singles including «Monkey Gone to Heaven", "Here Comes Your Man", "Velouria" and "Dig for Fire". When the band broke up, he decided to concentrate on his solo career. His first released was not success and he formed the act called Frank Black and the Catholics. In 2004, he also reformed Pixies. He achieved mainstream success as a solo singer with his breakthrough album, Bluefinger, which produced several hit singles such as "Threshold Apprehension", "Test Pilot Blues", "Lolita", "Tight Black Rubber" and "Angels Come To Comfort You".
