Billy Joe Shaver

Billy Joe Shaver is an American country music singer and songwriter born on August 16, 1939 in Corsicana, Texas, the United States. He lost two fingers on his right dominant hand, got an infection and had to recover for some time. After that, deciding that life was too short, he taught himself to play guitar without two fingers and went to Los Angeles at first and them to Nashville. In Nashville, he found a job as a songwriter and his songs attracted the attention of some famous artists including Waylon Jennings. Other stars like Elvis Presley and Kris Kristofferson recorded his songs as well. Shaver began to record his own music as well but he didn’t’ achieve the widespread and mainstream popularity.
