Beth Orton

Elizabeth Caroline Orton, better known as Beth Orton is an English folk and electronica singer-songwriter, born on December 14, 1970 in East Dereham, Norfolk, England. She left her parents quite early. Her father left her and her mother when she was eleven and died quite soon afterwards. Her mother died when Orton was 19. After that, she spent some time in Thailand with Buddhist nuns. She began her music career with acclaimed collaboration with such musicians like William Orbit and Chemical Brothers. After that, she embarked on her solo career, releasing a solo album Superpinkymandy in 1993. The album was released only in Japan and thus it lacked any international attention.
