Bessie Smith

Bessie Smith is an American blues and jazz singer, born on April 15, 1894 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, U.S. and died on September 26, 1937 Clarksdale, Mississippi, U.S. She is one of the most influential and famous blues artists during 1920-30s. During her career, she collaborated with Louis Armstrong, Baster Baley, Fletcher Henderson, James Jones, Jack Tigarden and with many others. In 1923, she released her debut record Down Hearted Blues. This and her following records were very popular and all of them were sold in several months after the release. In 1928, she saw the decline of her popularity. Despite this fact she released one more album in 1933 which accompanied by a tour. She starred in a movie and was going to continue her film career.
