Beirut

Beirut is an American band formed in 2006 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the United States. Originally, that was only a solo project of Zachary Francis Condon and soon the project was transformed into the band. The band composes of many members including Perrin Cloutier (cello, accordion), Jason Poranski (guitar, mandolin, ukulele), Nick Petree (drums), Kristin Ferebee (violin), Paul Collins (organ/keys/tambourine/ukulele), Jon Natchez (baritone sax/mandolin/glockenspiel), Kelly Pratt (trumpet/euphonium), Tracy Pratt and Ben Lanz. The band’s style is very interesting as it combines Western pop music with Eastern European and Balkan folk and American mainstream and indie-rock. Therefore, this genre may be called world music or indie folk for example. The band’s music was highly influenced by Goran Bregovic and Boban Markovic. The band has released two studio albums so far.
