Bates

German punk-rock band The Bates from Eschwege, Germany, was formed in 1987. The band comprised Zimbl, Klube, Reb and Dully. The band's name refers to the character Norman Bates from Alfred Hitchcock's film Psycho. They were mainly known for their cover versions of songs made famous by other artists including The Beatles ("Helter Skelter"), Rolling Stones ("Out of Time"), Sailor ("Glass of Champagne"), Aneka ("Japanese Boy"), and Eiffel 65 ("Blue"). In 1989, The Bates released their debut album, No Name for the Baby, which you may download in mp3 from our site. Their follow-up album, Shake, was released in 1990. Amongst their commercially most successful singles was their cover version of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean (1994), which reached number 10 in the Swiss charts, gaining them the highest charts entry of their career.
