Avalanches

The Avalanches are an Australian electronic music group formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1997. Originally, the project was started in 1994 under the moniker Alarm 115. At that time, they were playing noise-punk influenced by Drive Like Jehu, The Fall and Ultra Bidet. The band changed their name for many times and changed the line-up as well. The name The Avalanches appeared only during their fifth gig. Soon, the band opened for Stereolab, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys and others. The group released their debut studio album Since I Left You in 2000 through Modular Recordings. The album was praised by the critics especially by such media like Allmusic, The Austin Chronicle, Drowned in Sound, Pitchfork Media and others.
