Aretha Louise Franklin, known as just Aretha Franklin was born on March 25, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee, the United States. She is an American singer, songwriter and pianist covering such genres as jazz, rock, pop, soul, blues, R & B and gospel. She is often called “The Queen of Soul”and influential music magazine Rolling Stone put her at number 1 on the list of The Greatest Singers of All time. She charted for the first time in 1961 and since that time she received 18 Grammy Awards and holds the record for most Best Female R&B Vocal Performance awards with eleven to her name. She also got Grammy Awards in such nominations as Living Legend and Lifetime Achievement Award. She was featured singer during the 2009 Presidential inauguration ceremony for Barack Obama.
