Ana Carolina

Ana Carolina, birth name Ana Carolina Sousa is a Brazilian pop singer, songwriter, composer and musician born on September 9, 1974 in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, Brazil. She grew up in a musical family – her grandmother sang on the radio, and great aunt and uncle were musicians playing percussion, piano, cello and violin. Ana has been surrounded by music since her childhood and she was growing up listening to such Brazilian stars like Chico Buarque, João Bosco, Maria Bethânia and to some international singers like Bjork, Alanis Morissette and others. In order to pursue a professional music career, she left her native town and moved to Rio de Janeiro. She singed to BMG Records and released her debut album Ana Carolina in 1999. The album earned her popularity and fame and Latin Grammy Award nomination. She continued her success and during her career, she has achieved several singles number one in Brazil.
