Amel Larrieux

Amel Eliza Stowell, better known as Amel Larrieux, is an American R&B and soul singer-songwriter and keyboardist born on March 8, 1973 in Manhattan, New York City, the United States. She grew up in artistic environment and since her childhood, she has been interested in music. She was highly inspired by Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald, John Lennon and by many others. She began her music career in 1991 when she net Bryce Wilson. Together they formed R&B and hip-hop duo Groove Theory. The duo officially disbanded in 2001 but it was announced at the beginning of 2010 that they would record a new album. Larrieux is also known for her solo career. She has released four albums, however, she hasn’t achieved mainstream success and the albums didn’t chart well.
