Al Green

American gospel and soul music singer Al Green (birth name Albert Greene) was born on April 13, 1946, in Forrest City, Arkansas/Grand Rapids, Michigan. The son of a sharecropper, he started performing at age ten in a Forrest City quartet called the Greene Brothers. He dropped the final "e" from his last name years later as a solo artist. They toured extensively in the mid-1950s in the South until the Greenes moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, when they began touring around Michigan. His father kicked him out of the group because he caught Green listening to Jackie Wilson. He quickly gained popularity in 1972 with his breakthrough album, I'm Still in Love With You, which was ranked number 285 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. It also spawned the singles, "Simply Beautiful" and "Oh, Pretty Woman". And now, you may download this album by Al Green in mp3 from our site.
