French electronic music duo Air comes from Versailles, France. The duo was formed in 1995 by Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoit Dunckel. Air is an abbreviation of Amour, Imagination, Reves. (Love, Imagination, Dreams). The band’s style can be describes as electronica but it includes elements from ambient, trip hop, chill out, new wave, pop and downtempo. The band was influenced by Vangelis, Jean Michel Jarre, Ennio Morricone, Pink Floyd, Serge Gainsbourg and many others. The debut album Moon Safari was released in 1998 and reached number 6 on the UK Albums Chart. Some of their albums became number one in Ireland, like 10 000 Hz Legend and Talkie Walkie.
